Setting Product Packages

Product Packages

CloudCommerce allows retailers to set up groups of products to be purchased together, but once the customer goes through checkout with the item, the package will automatically break the product into the subset of product. For example, if a firearm and scope is entered into a product package, the order will contain both the firearm and the scope as separate items in the administrative order screen. Setting the pricing, product description, images and pricing is the same as it would be for creating a new product. The only difference for a package product is creating a relationship with the products to be included. In both cases you will need to create additional products or select existing products. For additional information on creating a product, please visit the Creating a product / Adding a new product knowledgebase article.

Configuration

Step 1: Before you start creation or selection of component products is required. For more information on creating products, please visit Creating a product / Adding a new product

Step 2: The creation of a product package does require a new product be created. To do this, we will need to navigate to the categories and products (Catalog > Categories/Products). From here you will want to navigate to your desired category.

Step 3: Now that we have arrived at our desired location we will click the new product button. For more information on creating products please visit Creating a product / Adding a new product.

Step 4: Once the product information has been entered, click on the packages tab. Here you will find the following settings. Please take a moment to familiarize yourself and determine which settings you would like to use.

  • This product is available for individual sale

    • This will allow for the subset of products to be purchased outside of the package (recommended)

  • This product is available for sale only as port of a package

    • The subset of products will only be available in the package.

  • Set Packages

    • Yes will set the package

    • No will break the package up (package will not be available to purchase)

  • Add a line

    • Adds a line to allow more products to be added to the package

  • Product Name

    • This will display the name of the product selected

  • QTY

    • Quantity of each product to be included in the package

  • Remove from package

    • Removed specific product from package

  • Select category

    • Drill down method to select the products to include in the package

  • Add To package

    • Once drill down is complete the available products will be available in the drop down, allowing them to be added to the package and displayed under product name.

Step 5. In this example we have used existing products and allowed the component products to be available for individual sale.

  1. Click the radio button for “this product is available for individual sale”

    1. If you do not want the component products to be available for sale outside the product click “this product is available for sale only as part of a package”

Step 6: Now that all products have been selected and the pricing and product information have been filled out we will click on the preview button. This will upload all images and prepare to write the product to the database. Clicking Insert will finalize the product package. If you have already clicked insert and are editing the product you can click quick update to update the product or preview to upload new images and click update to finalize your changes. In this example the product has already been created, so we will be clicking the update button.

Step 6: We can now navigate to the front page and view the product package. In the product package tab it will display all of the items included in the package along with the price savings over purchasing the products individually.

Step 7: When an order comes in for a package product, we can see in the orders which products are part of the package by navigating to Store Information > Orders and selecting the appropriate order.

Notes:

The stock quantity of packaged products will display as the lowest stocked item. If there are 2 or more items in the package, and one of the products is out of stock, the package will be out of stock.
